Desmond founded Laterum Capital Group in 2024 as a middle-market real estate investment firm focusing on owning and operating opportunistic multifamily, retail, industrial, and speciality assets, as well as special situation lending and the acquisition and disposition of performing and non-performing loans.
Prior to Laterum Capital, Desmond led the acquisitions, asset management, and capital markets functions for July Residential Group, a growing real estate investment firm that grew to 2,000+ multifamily units and $200MM AUM since its inception in 2019.
Over the course of his career, Desmond has participated in $2.5b+ in closed transactions at Lev, a financial technology startup where he was the #1 top producer in transaction volume during his tenure and one of the first employees, and at Avison Young, where he was a part of the NYC-based debt, JV & structured finance group where he focused on raising LP equity, preferred equity, mezzanine and first mortgage financing as well as selling loans for investors, developers, banks and funds.
